Obverse description Forepart of a griffin advancing to left, the right forepaw raised in a striding posture. The creature is rendered with characteristic archaic detail, including a prominent hooked beak, stylized feathered wing fanning outward to the right, and a finely articulated leonine body. The design fills the broadly circular flan, reflecting the accomplished engraving tradition of the Abderite mint.
