| Obverse description | Facing frontal view of a horse's head rendered in archaic relief, with a broad muzzle and prominent nostrils depicted in a naturalistic yet stylized manner characteristic of early Thessalian coinage. The mane is indicated by short incuse striations above the poll, and two small pellets flank the upper neck area. The design occupies the full flan with bold, rounded relief typical of fifth-century BC Larissaean mint work. The irregular flan edges are consistent with hand-struck hammered coinage of the period. |
