| Obverse description | Left-facing horned head of the river god Akragas, bound with a tainia; the ethnic inscription ΑΚΡΑΓΑΣ appears to the left of the effigy within a dotted border encircling the entire field. The portrayal is executed in the bold relief characteristic of late fifth- to early fourth-century Sikeliot coinage, with the horn emerging naturalistically from the deity's brow. |
