| Obverse description | Owl standing in three-quarter facing position, head turned to face the viewer, with large round eyes rendered in relief. The bird is depicted with naturalistic feather detailing on the body and wings, standing upon a broad exergual line. To the right of the owl, the Punic legend ZIZ is inscribed vertically in the field, identifying the mint city of Ziz (modern Palermo, Sicily). The design is contained within a shallow incuse circle, characteristic of early Sicilian-Punic bronze coinage. |
