Obverse description Two eagles standing left, depicted in high relief with wings spread and partially raised, perched upon a hare prostrate on the ground. The birds are rendered in fine Sicilian style with carefully engraved feathering. The ethnic legend ΑΚΡΑΓΑΝΤΙΝΟΝ curves around the upper and right periphery of the field in Greek characters.

Reverse description A crab, the primary civic symbol of Akragas, depicted frontally with claws extended, grasping a serpent in its left claw. In the lower field, an octopus and a conch shell are visible below the crab, while six pellets arranged around the design serve as value marks denoting the hemilitron denomination.
