| Obverse description | A man-headed bull advances to the left in high relief, its bearded human head turned to face the viewer frontally, rendered in the archaic Greek artistic style characteristic of Kyzikene coinage. The creature's muscular bovine body is depicted with careful attention to anatomical detail, with all four legs clearly articulated. Beneath the bull, a tunny fish (the civic emblem of Kyzikos) is shown in profile to the left, serving as a ground line and a key identifying badge of the issuing city. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, as is typical of early electrum coinage from the Propontis region. The field is otherwise plain, with no legend or inscription. |
