Kaphyai was an Arkadian city absorbed into the Achaean League, and its coinage rights under the federal monetary system placed it among a handful of inland mints producing hemidrachms during the League's final decades. The terminal date of 146 BC is not approximate — it marks Rome's destruction of Corinth and the dissolution of the League itself, after which all member-city coinage ceased by Roman fiat.
Issues from Kaphyai are among the scarcer civic contributions to the federal series, reflected in Benner's early documentation and the handful of references required to locate specimens.
