Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing left, wearing a crested Attic helmet. The relief is bold and slightly crude in the archaic Ionian tradition, with the cheek-guards and crest rendered in summary but recognizable style. The flan is irregular, characteristic of the small hammered silver coinage of the Ionian coastal cities.

Reverse description Athena's owl standing to right with head facing forward, rendered in the Athenian-influenced style adopted by many Ionian mints. In the right field, a ship's prow is depicted, referencing Lebedos's maritime identity. To the left field, the Greek magistrate's name ΗΓΙΑΣ is inscribed vertically. The devices are contained within a plain incuse square field typical of early Ionian hemidrachms.
