| Obverse description | Forepart of a lion to the right, rendered in high relief in the archaic Greek tradition, with the head turned back to face the viewer in three-quarter perspective. The mane is depicted with distinctive pellet-and-ridge detailing, and the open jaws expose the teeth with forceful expression. The flan is irregular and the design occupies the full available field, characteristic of Chersonesian hemidrachms of this period. |
