Obverse description Forepart of a lion advancing to the right, head turned back to face the viewer in three-quarter perspective, with an open mouth revealing teeth and a richly detailed mane rendered in fine relief. The powerful musculature of the forelegs and chest is conveyed with confident die-cutting characteristic of Thracian Chersonesean coinage. The figure occupies the full field of the flan, with no legend or border. The style is consistent with the accomplished Greek die-engraving tradition of the late Classical period.
