Reverse description Forepart of a griffin facing left, with open beak and erect ear, rendered in vigorous relief typical of Phokaian coinage. The griffin, a long-standing civic emblem of Phokaia, occupies the central field. To the left of the griffin's chest appears the Greek letter Phi (Φ), to the right the letter Omega (Ω), and below the monogram AB, together constituting the civic and magistrate's abbreviations identifying the issuing authority and period.
