| Obverse description | Draped bust of Artemis facing right, her hair elaborately arranged and secured beneath a stephane or polos adorned with pellets along the upper edge, with loose curling locks falling to the neck. She wears a prominent hoop earring and a necklace, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with naturalistic modelling of the facial features. The bust is depicted with a draped garment falling across the lower field, consistent with representations of Artemis as the principal deity venerated at Bargylia. |

The Greek legend ΒΑΡΓΥ ΛΙΗΤΩΝ is disposed in two lines within the field, identifying the issuing civic authority. The composition is characteristic of Carian civic coinage of the Hellenistic period, combining the cultic animal and weapon of the goddess in a bold, well-centred design. |
