Obverse description Facing head of Herakles, turned slightly to the left, wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress; the lion's jaws are visible above the hero's forehead, and the mane cascades in richly detailed wavy locks along the right side of the field. The portrayal exhibits the fine Sicilian engraving style of the late fifth century BC, with carefully rendered facial features including almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. No legend or inscription appears in the field.
