| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Ares facing right, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, with curling locks of hair visible below the brim. The portrait is rendered in a bold, vigorous Hellenistic style characteristic of southern Italian coinage of the late 3rd century BC. The surface of the flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hammered production. No legend appears on the obverse. |
