Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine archaic-transitional style with delicate facial features, almond-shaped eye, and long wavy hair falling in locks behind the neck. A laurel wreath crowns the deity's head, its leaves rendered with careful detail. The portrait fills the flan with characteristic Milesian artistry of the mid-4th century BC, with smooth fields surrounding the relief.

Reverse description Lion standing left in a striding pose with head turned back over the shoulder, rendered in high relief with mane, musculature, and tail carefully articulated. A six-pointed star appears above in the upper field. The MI monogram of Miletos is visible to the left of the lion. The magistrate's name ΠΡΟΞΕΝΟΣ appears in Greek letters in the lower field beneath the lion, identifying this issue as one of a series struck under named civic magistrates.
