Obverse description Bare head of the youthful hero Gyrton facing right, rendered in fine archaic-to-classical Thessalian style with short, tightly curled hair framing the face. The neck is cleanly truncated, and the portrait exhibits a naturalistic, slightly idealized quality characteristic of fourth-century Greek coinage. In the lower left field, below the neck truncation, appears the monogram Π, serving as a magistrate's or mint control mark.
