Obverse description Facing head of Helios, turned slightly to the right, rendered in fine early Rhodian style. The god's youthful, idealized visage is framed by voluminous wavy hair radiating outward from the crown, characteristic of solar iconography. A small pellet or floral element is visible at the top of the head. The bold, nearly full-face treatment of the effigy fills the flan, with high sculptural relief that is hallmark of the early Rhodian mint's accomplished die-cutting.
