Obverse description Forepart of a lion rearing to the right, with head reverted and jaws open in a roar, rendered in bold archaic relief. The mane is depicted with fine striated engraving, conveying both power and artistic refinement characteristic of Chersonesian coinage. The forelegs are raised and the musculature of the chest and shoulder is rendered with considerable naturalistic detail. No legend or inscription appears in the field. The design is contained within a plain circular border.

Reverse description Quadripartite incuse square divided into four sunken triangular quadrants by two diagonal lines meeting at the centre, forming the characteristic mill-sail pattern. In two opposing lowered quadrants appear subsidiary symbols: a single pellet in one and a bunch of grapes in the other, serving as magistrate or issue marks. The remaining two quadrants are plain and raised. The incuse technique reflects the standard archaic coining practice employed at Chersonesos throughout the fifth and fourth centuries BC.
