Argos struck these small silver fractions continuously through the Hellenistic period despite the city's diminishing political relevance following Macedonian dominance in the Peloponnese. The long production window — roughly 80 years — means attribution to a specific decade within the series depends almost entirely on stylistic analysis of the wolf's head die work, which deteriorates noticeably in later emissions. SNG Copenhagen 49 anchors the earlier, crisper phase of the type.
