| Obverse description | Bare head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine Classical Greek style with naturalistic facial features, gently parted lips, and short curling hair arranged in locks across the forehead and temples. The portrait fills the field in high relief, with the neck truncation visible at the lower margin. The flat surrounding field is unadorned, lending prominence to the effigy. The die-work reflects the accomplished engraving tradition of the Propontis region in the fourth century BC. |
