| Obverse description | Forepart of a lion to the right, depicted in a vigorous, naturalistic style characteristic of Thracian Chersonese coinage. The beast's mane is rendered with fine engraved striations fanning dramatically across the upper field, and the open jaws reveal the tongue in a snarling attitude. The powerful forelegs and chest are shown in three-quarter perspective, with the right foreleg raised, occupying the full flan within a plain circular border. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse. |
