| Reverse description | An eagle with closed wings stands in profile to the right, perched atop a decorative Ionic column capital rendered with characteristic volute scrollwork at its base. The bird's plumage is rendered with fine engraved detail across the breast and folded wings, and its hooked beak is turned slightly downward. To the left of the eagle appears the archaic digamma (F), and to the right the letter alpha (A), together forming the ethnic abbreviation for the Eleans (FAΛEIΩN) in the local Elean dialect. The composition is contained within an irregular flan typical of the hammered coinage of this sanctuary series. |
