Obverse description Left-facing head of a horned river god rendered in archaic Greek style, displaying characteristic globular hair treatment with rows of pellets and a short beard. A small seal device is positioned in the right field behind the head, serving as the civic badge of Phokaia. The relief is bold and well-articulated, with the horn emerging prominently from the forehead. The flan is slightly irregular in outline, as is typical of early electrum coinage from Ionia.
