| Reverse description | Quadripartite incuse square dominating the entire reverse field, divided by two perpendicular incuse lines into four recessed rectangular compartments of roughly equal size. Each quadrant displays a granular or striated texture resulting from the hammered incuse punch, a hallmark of archaic Greek electrum coinage. The incuse device is deeply impressed and sharply defined, with the intersection of the dividing bars forming a precise central cross. No legend, symbol, or additional design element appears within the incuse. This reverse type is characteristic of Kyzikene electrum fractional coinage throughout the fifth and fourth centuries BC. |
