| Obverse description | Youthful male head in right profile, bound with a tainia; the hair rendered in short, tightly clustered locks swept back from the brow in archaic style. The facial features are modelled with delicate relief characteristic of early classical Greek coinage, with a well-defined eye, straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The field is smooth and the flan slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered electrum issues from Mytilene. |
