Reverse description A quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse, divided into four recessed compartments by raised ridges meeting at right angles at the center of the flan. The incuse is deeply struck and irregular in outline, consistent with the punch technique employed in early Greek coinage of the sixth century BC. The four sections show slightly uneven depth and surface texture due to the handcrafted nature of the hammered production process. No inscription or secondary device is present. The overall appearance is characteristic of the primitive mill-sail or windmill incuse type common to early Kyzikene and broader Ionian electrum issues.
