Obverse description A tunny fish (tuna) rendered in high relief swims to the left across the field, serving as the civic badge of Kyzikos and a constant type on its electrum coinage. Above the tunny, a crouching lion or feline figure is depicted in profile, adding a second prominent device to the composition. The surfaces display the characteristically irregular and slightly convex flan typical of early Archaic electrum hektai struck at Kyzikos. The design is executed in the bold, schematic style of late 6th-century Ionian craftsmanship, with no inscription or legend present.
