Obverse description Forepart of a seal (phoke) depicted in high relief, facing right, rendered in the archaic artistic style characteristic of early Ionian coinage. The animal's head displays prominent eye and naturalistic musculature along the neck and jaw. A small ring or pellet device appears below the seal's muzzle in the lower field, widely regarded as a mint control mark. The flan is irregularly shaped with a slightly raised border, and the smooth surrounding field exhibits the characteristic granular surface of early electrum coinage.
