Reverse description Irregular incuse square divided into quadrants by raised ridges, forming a rough mill-sail or quadripartite pattern characteristic of early archaic Greek struck coinage. The incuse impression is deeply struck, with the four compartments displaying varying surface textures resulting from the hammered technique. No legend or secondary device is present. The broad, uneven incuse reflects the primitive punch technology employed at Phokaia during this early period of electrum coinage.
