Reverse description Incuse square punch of irregular form, divided into multiple compartments by raised ridges forming a rough geometric pattern, consistent with the millstone or star-pattern incuse commonly found on early Ionian electrum hektes. The punch marks are deeply impressed, with subsidiary incuse divisions creating a cross-like or stellate arrangement within the square. The surface within the incuse shows the characteristic rough texture resulting from the anvil die used in archaic hammered coinage. No legend is present. This type of reverse is diagnostic of the earliest phase of Greek coinage, prior to the adoption of pictorial reverse types.
