| Obverse description | Facing right, the finely modelled head of a ram dominates the field, rendered in high relief with careful attention to the curling horn, textured fleece, and alert eye. Beneath the ram's head, a cock is depicted standing to the left in the lower field, its beak inclined toward the ground in a pecking posture. The design fills the compact flan with characteristic archaic vigor, the coin's slightly convex surface lending additional plasticity to the bold relief. No legend or inscription appears; the composition relies entirely on its figural imagery as a civic emblem of Mytilene. |
