Reverse description Incuse head of a lion facing right, struck in intaglio within a shallow rectangular punch divided into two compartments. The lion's open jaws, curling mane, and deeply recessed eye are rendered with considerable artistry despite the small module. A secondary rectangular incuse punch appears to the right of the lion's head, a hallmark of early Mytilenaean electrum hektes. The reverse impression is characteristic of the two-punch technique employed at Mytilene during the Archaic period.
