Obverse description A lion recumbent to the left with head reverted, rendered in bold archaic relief characteristic of early Ionian coinage. The animal's musculature and facial features are rendered with considerable naturalistic detail for the period, with the head turned back over the body in a pose typical of Milesian lion types. The design occupies the full flan within a shallow incuse rectangular border. No legend or inscription appears in the field.
