| Obverse description | Facing left, the youthful head of Attis rendered in fine archaic Greek style, wearing a characteristic Phrygian cap that tapers to a point; flowing locks of hair emerge beneath the cap and curl along the neck. The facial features are delicately modeled, with an almond-shaped eye, subtly defined nose, and closed lips conveying an air of serene idealism. A small seal (the civic badge of Phokaia), depicted downward, appears in the field behind the head, serving as the city's identifying symbol on this electrum issue. |
