| Obverse description | Crude orientalized imitation of the English noble motif depicting a ruler in a boat, rendered in a highly stylized and debased manner characteristic of early Muscovite coinage. The central device shows a schematic frontal face or head, surrounded by what appears to be a circular vessel or boat form, with peripheral decorative elements filling the irregular flan. The design reflects the transitional artistic influence of Western European and Tatar numismatic traditions on early Moscow coinage. A partial Cyrillic legend reading ПЕYАТЬ ...Ѧ ВЕЛ (Seal of the Grand Prince) is visible in the field. |
