Reverse description Central ornamental device consisting of two intersecting ovals forming an interlaced geometric motif, surrounded by a wavy or rope-like border that frames the design within the irregular flan. A partial Cyrillic legend is visible in the field surrounding the central ornament, though much of the inscription is lost to the edge of the flan. The overall composition is typical of late Muscovite wire-money coinage of the early fifteenth century, produced by hammering a small silver blank between hand-cut dies.
