Obverse descriptionThe obverse of 2 oz Buddhist Stele of Amitabha Silver Bars takes a few liberties but largely remains true to the original. Because the actual stele has faded over time, the artists have imagined what the image likely would have been when it was first created. We see in the middle a depiction of the Amitabha, who, according to Mahayana Buddhism, is a celestial Buddha. Surrounding him are numerous other spiritual figures, in line with the original Korean National Treasure n. 106.
