Obverse description Within an inner beaded circle, a mitre surmounts an episcopal shield of arms. Surrounding the inner circle is an outer ring composed of sixteen smaller heraldic shields arranged in alternating ornamental fashion. The bishop's titles appear as a continuous legend in Gothic lettering between the two circles. The composition reflects the late-medieval ecclesiastical heraldic tradition characteristic of Swiss episcopal coinage of the early sixteenth century.

Reverse description Saint Theodore, patron of Sion, is depicted seated and facing left, holding a crozier in one hand and a sword in the other, rendered in a late-Gothic figurative style. A secondary figure stands to the saint's left, holding a bell, likely representing an attendant or a second ecclesiastical personage. The date 1501 is incorporated into the circular legend surrounding the central design. The saint's identification and the date appear within a continuous inscription in Gothic lettering. The overall composition is characteristic of early Swiss Guldiner-type coinage, with strong ecclesiastical iconographic conventions.
