Obverse description Right-facing bust of Archbishop Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg occupies the inner circle, with the date rendered in Roman numerals (MD XXI) divided on either side of the portrait. A beaded inner circle separates the effigy from the encircling Latin legend, which commences at 12 o'clock. The portrait displays the Archbishop in ecclesiastical vestments befitting his rank as Cardinal and Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg.
