Obverse description Full-length facing figure of Duke William V, clad in armor, standing erect and holding a sword resting upright against his right shoulder. The coat of arms of the County of Holland is displayed to the left of the figure, while the Bavarian arms appear to the right. The composition follows the Florentine gold florin tradition adapted to the dynastic imagery of the Bavarian-Wittelsbach rulers of Holland. The surrounding Latin legend identifies the issuer as duke and count.
