Reverse description Central quartered shield bearing the combined arms of Guelders and Julich occupies the field, enclosed within a pointed trilobe (Gothic trefoil) frame. The three lobes of the trilobe are each charged with the arms of the principal cities of the duchy — Arnhem, Nijmegen, and Zutphen — referencing the political structure of the realm. The composition reflects the heraldic display typical of late medieval Low Countries gold coinage. A peripheral legend in uncial Latin encircles the entire design.
