| Obverse description | Enthroned frontal figure of Mathilda, Duchess of Guelders, seated beneath an elaborate Gothic architectural canopy with flanking turrets, rendered in the style characteristic of Rhenish gold gulden of the late 14th century. The ruler is depicted wearing a crown and holding the regalia of authority, with drapery falling across the throne. Two smaller supporting figures or decorative architectural elements flank the canopy on either side. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the circumferential legend in Gothic uncial characters running between the inner and outer beaded borders. |

| Reverse description | Central heraldic shield of Guelders — displaying the lion of Guelders — set within an elaborate Gothic quatrefoil or multi-lobed frame, the whole enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The shield is surmounted by a helmet with mantling, and the overall composition is characteristic of the Rhenish gulden type derived from the Florentine florin tradition. A cross pattée or similar stop mark appears at the commencement of the circumferential legend, which runs in Gothic uncial lettering between the inner and outer beaded borders, referencing the Benedictus verse from the Gospel. |
