Obverse description Central field features an elaborate Baroque cartouche shield of Lucerne — divided by a vertical pale — set within an ornate foliate surround of scrolling acanthus leaves, floral sprigs, and a grotesque mask at the base. The shield is surmounted by a decorative foliate crest with additional scrollwork flanking both sides. The circular legend, interrupted by five six-pointed stars, reads MONETA ★ NOVA ★ REIP ★ LVCERNENSIS ★ 1714, arranged along the outer periphery with the date at lower right. The coin's edge is bordered by a fine milled collar, and the overall design reflects the high Baroque artistic style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Swiss cantonal coinage.
