| Obverse description | Central field occupied by an elaborately decorated Baroque cartouche enclosing the vertically divided shield of Lucerne — per pale, the dexter half bearing acanthus scroll ornamentation and the sinister half plain — surmounted by a radiating sun or shell motif. The cartouche is flanked by symmetrical foliate and grape-cluster ornaments, with a grotesque mask at the base. The circular legend curves around the periphery, reading MONETA ★ NOVA ★ REIP ★ LVCERNENSIS ★ 1714, interrupted by small six-pointed stars as word dividers, all rendered in the restrained Baroque style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Swiss civic coinage. |
