| Obverse description | Armored and mantled half-length bust of Emperor Maximilian II facing right, wearing an ornate suit of armor with elaborate pauldrons and a crown upon his head. In his right hand he holds a scepter, while his left hand supports an orb bearing the value mark '60' (for 60 Kreuzer). The imperial effigy is rendered in the high-relief hammered style characteristic of mid-sixteenth century Holy Roman Empire coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust within the coin's border, reading MAXIMILIA·II·D:G·EL·RO:IM·S·AV·GER·HV:, abbreviating his full imperial and royal titulature. |

| Reverse description | Crowned imperial double-headed eagle displayed at center, with wings spread, bearing on its breast an elaborate quartered coat of arms comprising the hereditary Habsburg lands, including Austria, Bohemia, and Burgundy. A small crown surmounts the shield. The date 1568 appears in the upper field. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads BOHE·EC·REX·ARCHID·AVST·MAR·MOR·1568:, referencing Maximilian II's titles as King of Bohemia, Archduke of Austria, and Margrave of Moravia. The design is typical of the Prague Mint's hammered Thaler production of this period. |
