Obverse description Crowned Polish eagle displayed with wings spread and head turned sinister, the breast charged with the Vasa dynastic shield. The eagle is rendered in a bold, somewhat archaic hammered style typical of early 17th-century Polish-Lithuanian coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device, identifying the king as Sigismund III, by God's grace King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania.
