Obverse description Within a beaded border, the inscription RESPVBLICA • LVCENSIS • followed by the date 1725 runs as a circular legend around the field. At center, the four letters L-U-C-A are arranged in Gothic leafy lettering around a central rosette, forming a decorative cruciform composition typical of Lucchese coinage of this period.
