Obverse description A bold pattée cross divides the field into four quarters, each canton bearing a stylized fleur-de-lis in relief. The arms of the cross extend to a beaded inner circle, beyond which a segmented circular legend runs in Gothic lettering, interrupted at intervals by rosette stops. The overall design is characteristic of the Florentine grosso tradition, with the cross and lily motifs serving as civic emblems of the Republic.
