| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a cross pattée with anchor-shaped tips occupies the field, the anchor flukes terminating each arm in a distinctive stylization characteristic of Ancona's civic coinage. Above the cross, the papal crossed keys appear prominently in the upper field, referencing Ancona's nominal submission to the Papal States. The entire design is enclosed within a roped or reeded border, and a floral or pellet stop separates segments of the outer legend. |
