Reverse description Two full-length, forward-facing figures of the patron saints of Brescia depicted in hierarchical Byzantine-influenced style. At left, Saint Jovita holds a book and a long processional cross; at right, Saint Faustinus raises both hands in a gesture of blessing. The paired saints are separated by a central dividing line, and the legend with punctuation marks identifies each figure. The rigid frontal posture and stylized drapery are characteristic of Italian communal coinage of the thirteenth century.
